Alain Touwaide

Alain Touwaide gave a very interesting interview with Curtis Abraham in a recent New Scientist magazine.Under the heading “Hippocrates had a headache “he comments “their medicines were based on a core of 45 plants, which were cultivated in the orchard close to the homes of the patients to be treated. What is striking from the writings attributed to Hippocrates is that the plants mentioned are very common; hellebore, garlic, celery, leek, flax, anise, beet and cabbage among others.

This list is significant because it shows that food and medicines are just 2 faces of the same coin, and that the best medicine is preventative medicine. Myrrh was also used as an antisceptic, antibiotic agent. If you have a disinfectant and a good range of substances with which to treat a broad range of illnesses, you have quite a good therapeutic arsenal at your disposal “[thanks to New Scientist magazine]

As spring is here [in theory at least] and plants are beginning to burgeon this seemed a good topic to think about. I remember hearing about Bridey [St Bridget] spreading her cloak of green across the land at this time and she is certainly busy right now.

Our Trainers

I have been browsing through information on the web about training to be a Healer. Our Trainers are all registered; in other words they have had to have experience of working with another Trainer, experience of teaching [but not necessarily be qualified teachers; but it helps] and a thorough knowledge of the training course.

My browsing also revealed that some centres offer complementary and alternative “medicine”and “treatments”. The view of WNHF is that all treatments should be complementary to whatever medical treatment the patient may be receiving. Doctors will find it hard to take Healing on board if it is “alternative”; it implies that medicine is of secondary importance which is simply not true.

I wonder what other people think ?

In spite of the fact that it was the coldest night of the winter we were
kept busy and a lot of interest was shown in Healing; we also met some really nice people and just wish there had been time to sample every possible treatment on offer !

WELCOME TO THE WESTCOUNTRY NATURAL HEALING FELLOWSHIP BLOG!

This seems to be a good time to start our new venture……January 2012, the start of what will probably be a very special time of challenge-the unexpected -and change. I dont think it is productive to dwell on details because outcomes will depend on happenings. If we all manifest positive happenings that will surely help lead to positive outcomes.

There was a very interesting documentary on TV recently about the Mayan calendar-which as we know stops at 12/12/12. Apparently only one person can interpret the Mayan glyphs and he explained that they divided time into cycles and that 12/12/12 marks the end of the current cycle which will culminate in big changes but not the end of the world. Thankfully we do not need to retire to our underground bunkers stocked with food and home comforts.

The changes are going to be Spiritual which will of course affect our earthly lives and conditions and they all started long ago.The harmonic convergence and divergence, and unique plantenary configurations and many other things are part of this process.

What do you think? Do you have any ideas or comments ?

On a more local note for those who can access Gloucester/Nature In Art at Walworth Hall, Twigworth, has an exhibition from May 1-june 17 called “Capturing The Extrordinary” featuring pictures exploring space from the Hubble Telescope.” Visit the beautifull, dangerous, spectacular and mysterious depths of the cosmos” [www.nature-in-art.org.uk] Hopefully they will have that wonderfull picture called The Eye of God.

We hope to up-date the Westcountry Blog frequently; please contact us via our email with ideas, comments, and news of events.

Best wishes to you all on behalf of WNHF
